Seaton Village

Seaton Village is bordered by Bloor Street to the south, the Canadian Pacific Railway (C.P.R.) tracks to the north, Christie Street to the west, and Bathurst Street to the east. Access to the subway (line 2) and many arterial bike paths, make this urban relatively insulated neighbourhood a desirable location for central Toronto living. The Koreatown shopping district is at its southern border along Bloor Street West, and it is sometimes (historically) referred to as the West Annex. While Seaton Village shares several characteristics with the area to the east ("The Annex", notably its architecture and its popularity with University of Toronto students), it is generally quieter, more family-oriented, and with smaller, less expensive homes and lot sizes.

The area is composed primarily of semi-detached single family homes dating to the start of the 20th century. Most are either of solid brick construction, while some are front brick facade. Many of the trees planted at the same time as the houses were built are still standing giving the neighbourhood wonderful green canopy on most streets.

Vermont Square Park is near the centre of Seaton Village. The park has a playground that was completely redesigned and rebuilt in 2012, as well as off-leash dog park hours. St. Albans Boys and Girls club and the Bill Bolton hockey arena are also located in the park.

There are also many small businesses located along Dupont Street, Bathurst Street and Christie Street directly serving the community. Karma Co-op, a cooperatively run health food store, is hidden down a laneway (officially named Karma Lane in 2014) and has operated in the area since 1972.

Development in the area: Many Seaton Village streets and homes have rear laneway access to parking or garages, which recently has resulted in many new laneway homes being proposed and built in the community. Dupont Street, dubbed "the New Dupont" has seen an influx of development signs and cranes as urban intensification from Davenport to Lansdowne. We can expect projects to continue to be approved in coming years for mid-rise condo and townhome projects along the north corridor of Seaton Village in the future, on the north side of Dupont Street.
