Perhaps it’s quiet by design alone, perhaps the origin story deserves the credit. Either way, Humewood remains one of Toronto’s quietest neighbourhoods—and for good reason. As the once commanding estate of William Hume Blake, it was converted into subdivisions in the 1850s. The victories of the old designs can be discovered as you wind along the single-lane roads and cul de sacs. In fact, Humewood is separated from Cedarvale by the Cedarvale Ravine, which is known for lush cedars that propagate the area. English-style landscaping is common throughout the neighbourhood and the brick and wood structures give an austere yet charming character. You might luck into a modern home on offer, but the majority of the properties are a mixture of late 1800s to early 1900s buildings. Trying to weave through Humewood in a hurry is not recommended, but you’re welcome to enjoy the scenery on the way through. If you’re in a rush, you can get downtown in under 15 minutes by taking transit from St. Clair Avenue West. Located on the eastern flank of the west central region of York-Crosstown, Humewood is surrounded by Fairbank to the east, St. Clair Avenue West to the south and Vaughan Road to the north. ***Please note: Due to certain regulations within the Toronto Real Estate Board, some property listings are not visible to the general public.
